This study starts with the population of DSLR(Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras. It reflects the public's interests about photo-making process and consuming photo-images. Photography is connected to technique, discourse and practice. So we have to consider ways to use cameras in terms of the microscopic and the macroscopic aspects together. DSLR is related to interaction with an agent and external urban environment. To do this, flâneur who walks in the urban space of 19th century is appiled to this thesis DSLR users. And I set up 3 dimensions : flâneur as an agent, DSLR as a medium and urban space as an object of flâneur's gaze. This structure is able to show the circle of photo-production and photo-consumption usefully. According to qualitative research tradition, in-depth interview is taken as a main method. And photo-images they sent me and I took from famous tourist sites are made full of this study. S.I.club in cyworld and SLR club are observed for important references as well. Research questions are 3 stages of photographic (flâneur's) practice. First, motivations of photography is associated with socialization of individual, growth of people who work in the cultural industries. They choose DSLR as media of daily aestheticization. Second, the stage of 'photo-stroll' is divided four things. Firstly, it covers photo-stroll culture with 'mobile' and 'walking' in the city. Secondly, DSLR is the cause of special action by field observation. Thirdly, flâneur's gaze is discussed in two dimensions, tourist gaze and male gaze. Fourthly, flâneur attempts to criticize and has self-reflexiy through looking other's appearances. The last step of 3 stages is post-photo-stroll, 'digital photography culture'. After purchase of DSLR, people use the 'photoshop' program to make better photo-images. And photography is a daily medium for ordinary people. In their blogs, they use to express themselves by photo-images. In other words, they voluntarily provide high quality contents to portal sites for free. Besides they reflect their 'punctum' from other's photo-images. It confirms what is a 'good photo' and signifies their own photography. Finally, we can see changes of urban space by photo-taking practice. The districts of cafes in Seoul are expanded for filling flâneur's 'aesthetic' desire. In addition, alleys or poor villages are emerged as new sites people visit. The flâneur who seeking new things to see constantly consumes other people's place of life as a spectacle. Changes in urban space will be recorded or caused through the DSLR photo-taking activities. This article aims to clarify from people's micro photo-taking practice to macro aspects of photography. The practice of photography is related to gender, urban space, consuming culture, digital culture, and so on. Although people's photo-practice cannot be obtain political significance shortly, but DSLR users as flaneurs can express themselves and engage their society by photo-practice. And their practices are able to show possibilities as reflexive subject Then DSR will cause a serious and passionate photo-taking practice beyond common hobbies. In conclusion, this study wants to discuss significances or limitation of photo-taking cultures from DSLR USERS.
