Stop motion animation has a long history. Whether it is a two-dimensional flat drawing or a three-dimensional solid object, the subject being animated in stop motion animation is not restricted in any way. It is the same whether the subject is living, non-living, stationary, or landscape. In the spirit of the original etymology of animation, a bestowal of life, the early stop motion animation conducted countless experiments with frame-by-frame filming.\r\n\r\nEarly B-class Hollywood fantasy movies used stop motion filming technique for puppets as special effects. Also in the experimental animation works of the 1940's, grotesque pixellation technique was also used often. This pixellation technique was used frequently in commercial films along with puppet stop motion animation filming method. This form of special effects continued to be used until the 1990’s.\r\n\r\nHowever, films have made tremendous progress since then based on science technology using computers. It has become natural to use computers for most postproduction processes, and many movies have shown high levels of polish as if they were composition works seen in university entrance exams. Computer graphics has now reached a level where it can create images that do not exist in real life and make them indistinguishable from reality. The growing uniformity of these graphic effects in movies has now made them a familiar image to the public.\r\n\r\nAccessibility, which is one of the advantages of producing films digitally using computers, has given film creators a great amount of freedom. This freedom provided not only a new “tool” for film production but also a “shortcut” function of eliminating physical waste in productions using traditional filming methods. Modern stop motion animation is open to all the functional characteristics of digital film production and is categorized as digital film but its basic production method, the frame-by-frame filming technique that creates the analogue image associated with stop motion animation, has not changed from how things were done in the past. This is the transformation that has taken place in digitally produced stop motion animation.\r\n\r\nSome people have come to seek out movies that are experimental, that can express themselves like some rough painting, and in response, stop motion animation films using various types of techniques are being made. Stop motion animation filming techniques are appearing in such media as MTV music videos, commercials, and media arts to offer new analogue visual entertainment in the digital age.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of this paper is to research the early stop motion animation filming technique that appears in modern films through examining the production of the stop motion animation "Master Peace"
