This thesis focuses on the uses of crowdsourcing and the impact of crowdsourcing on video artwork creation. Due to the development of Internet, crowdsourcing is becoming more and more common these days, and more artists began to utilize crowdsourcing to create video artworks. \r\nIn order to understand the development process of the crowdsourcing video artworks, the diverse previous approaches and the key features of multi-sourced video artworks will be studied. Since crowdsourcing requires the audience to participate in the production process, the role of the audience has been changed a lot by emancipating from the passive position. The relationship between artists and the audience has become more equal and close. In order to study this phenomenon, this thesis will analyze the crowdsourcing film Life in a Day in details and use Jacques Ranciere's key concept 'the Emancipated Spectator' to analyze the role of audience in the crowdsourcing project. Jacques Ranciere's concept 'Aesthetic Community' will also be used to analyze the equal community between artist and the audience in the crowdsourcing video artworks.
