본 논문의 목적은 크게 (1)긍정적 정서가 커뮤니케이션에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 밝히고, (2)긍정적 정서가 대인 관계성에 정적인 영향을 미치는데 있어 커뮤니케이션 능력이 매개변인으로 작용하는 것을 밝히는 데에 있다. 즉 긍정적 정서가 커뮤니케이션 능력에 영향을 주고 커뮤니케이션 능력은 다시 대인 관계성에 영향을 줄 것으로 가정하고 이를 검증하기 위하여 구조 방정식 모형을 활용하였다. 특히 본 논문은 중학생과 고등학생 집단에서 차이가 존재하는지 알아보고, 이어서 여학생과 남학생 집단에서 차이가 존재하는지 알아보았다. 모든 분석 집단에서 긍정적 정서가 커뮤니케이션에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 커뮤니케이션 능력은 대인 관계성에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 집단 간 경로계수 비교 분석 결과, 중학생과 고등학생 집단 간 차이는 존재하지 않았다. 하지만 여학생과 남학생 집단 간의 유의미한 차이는 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과, 남학생 집단에서만 낙관성이 대인 관계성에 직접적으로 유의미한 정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 커뮤니케이션 능력이 대인 관계성에 미치는 영향에 있어서는 여학생 집단이 남학생 집단에 비해 통계적으로 더 강한 정적 영향력을 행사하였다. 본 논문의 함의는 긍정적 정서가 커뮤니케이션 능력을 매개로 하여 대인 관계성에 영향을 미치는 것 대해 구조방정식모형을 통해 검증함으로 대인 관계성에 영향을 미치는 커뮤니케이션 능력 변인의 중요성을 재확인하였으며, 선행변인으로 긍정적 정서의 역할을 실증적으로 검증했다는 점을 들 수 있다. 이러한 발견은 그동안 강조되어 왔던 청소년의 커뮤니케이션 능력 개발의 중요성을 다시 확인할 수 있게 하였으며, 커뮤니케이션 능력개발을 위해서 긍정적 정서를 증진시키기 위한 노력이 필수적이라는 것을 암시한다.
The purpose of the present study is to examine the structural relationship between positive emotions(optimism, life satisfaction) and relatedness through communication competence. The present study hypothesized a structural model (1) to examine the effects of communication competence assumed to be influenced by positive emotions, on relatedness and (2) to investigate how these effects are influenced by group differences in the two independent samples: middle school students, high school students, and then by gender differences. The data sample of 985 adolescents adequately fit to the hypothesized model. The results show that positive emotions as well as communication competence are important factors to enhance interpersonal relations. Positive emotions improves relatedness through communication competence. There is no satistically significant difference of structural relationships between middle and high school students. However, there are statistically significant differences between boys and girls. The implication of the present study is that in order to enhance the level of communication competence and relatedness of adolescents, parents, and educators need to focus more on positive emotions development.
