커뮤니티, 토론게시판, 2008년 쇠고기 파동, 불매, 집합 행동, 아고라
본 연구는 온라인 토론 게시판과 온라인 커뮤니티 게시판은 해당 공간에 대한 이용 목적과 누릴 수 있는 익명성의 정도에 차이가 있다는 인식에서 출발한다. 사회적 교환이론을 바탕으로 각각의 게시판에서 구성원이 얻을 수 있는 편익이 다르고, 이로 인해 게시판 이용자는 구성원으로서의 자신의 지위를 보존하기 위한 노력의 정도에 차이를 보이게 될 것이라고 보고 이들 두 게시판을 비교하였다. 즉 특정 게시판 이용자가 인식하는 해당 게시판에서의 사회적인 맥락의 차이와 구성원의 지위를 유지하고자 하는 근거가 되는 욕구의 차이가 태도 및 표현 양식의 차이를 가져오고, 구성원 개개인의 이와 같은 태도의 차이가 두 게시판에서의 커뮤니케이션 방식에 차이를 가져올 것이라고 보았다. 성격이 다른 두 게시판을 비교 분석하기 위해 동일한 주제에 대해 온라인 토론 게시판과 커뮤니티 전반에서 비슷한 의견기후를 보였던 2008년 쇠고기 파동 당시 이와 연계된 불매운동이 온라인 공간에서 어떠한 양상으로 전개되었는지를 살펴보고, 이를 통해 일반 토론 게시판과 커뮤니티 게시판에서의 게시글과 댓글 내용 분석을 실시하였다. 분석은 먼저 게시판을 특정 짓지 않고 토론 게시판 전반과 커뮤니티 게시판 전반에서 추출된 표본을 바탕으로 양 게시판에서의 전반적인 논의 방식을 비교한 후, 특정 토론 게시판과 커뮤니티 게시판 비교를 통해 전반적인 경향성이 게시판을 한정지었을 경우에도 마찬가지로 적용되는지 확인하는 두 단계로 이루어졌다.\r\n\r\n2008년 쇠고기 파동 당시 온라인에서 불매와 관련한 논의는 여러 게시판에서 폭넓게 다루어지고 있었으나 토론게시판인 아고라의 경우 자유토론방에서, 일반 커뮤니티의 경우 각 커뮤니티의 자유게시판에서 중점적으로 다루어졌다. 해당 시기 불매논의는 폭넓게 산재한 각 커뮤니티에서 논의되기 시작하다 다음 아고라로 관련 논의가 집중되면서 폭발적으로 활성화되어 점차 대상과 방식이 조직적으로 체계화되어 갔으며, 커뮤니케이션 양식에는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.먼저 글 게시자 본인이 직접 작성한 글과 퍼온 글의 정도, 글의 표현양식을 통해 게시글이 가진 기본적인 형식은 살펴보았다. 토론 게시판에 비해 커뮤니티는 펌글의 비중이 상대적으로 높았는데, 특히 특정 게시판에 한정한 비교에서는 펌글이 직접 작성한 글보다 더 많은 비중을 차지하였다. 커뮤니티의 경우 불매에 대한 찬성, 반대글 모두 토론 게시판에 비해 적극적인 의견 개진보다는 단순히 사실을 옮기거나 가벼운 수준의 감상을 표출하는 경우가 많았다. 이는 불매운동이 특정 행위를 촉구한다는 점에서 글을 읽는 사람들에게 부담을 줄 수 있는 주제라는 것을 감안할 때, 커뮤니티 게시판에 글을 올릴 경우 다른 구성원들의 반응이나 자신의 이미지를 염두 해 두고 발언의 수위를 조정, 공손하고 조심스러운 어감을 사용하는 반면, 차후의 지속적인 관계를 염두 해 둘 필요가 없는 토론 게시판의 경우 사회 맥락적인 단서를 의식하지 않고 내용중심적인 강력한 발언을 하는 차이가 있음을 보여주는 것이라 할 수 있다.\r\n\r\n두 번째로 글 게재자의 개인적인 경험을 담고 있는 글의 정도, 글에 대한 댓글의 반대 혹은 이의제기 정도, 글쓴이의 자신의 글에 대한 댓글 개입 정도, 댓글 간 커뮤니케이션 정도를 통해 두 게시판에서의 커뮤니케이션 방식에 차이가 있는지를 살펴보았다. 토론 게시판과 커뮤니티 게시판 전체의 경향성, 아고라 자유토론방과 텐인텐 자유게시판이라는 특정 두 게시판 간 비교에 있어서도 커뮤니티 게시판에서 보다 더 개인 경험을 중심으로 한 글을 게재하고 있었다. 즉 커뮤니티 게시판에서 자신의 사생활을 보다 자연스럽게 드러내며, 불매와 같이 사회운동적인 성향을 지닌 주제와 관련해서도 사생활을 접목해 이야기하는 경향이 더 강하다는 것을 보여준다. 또한 커뮤니티 게시판의 경우 글 게시자가 자신의 글에 대한 댓글에 더 적극적으로 대응했고, 본인이 올린 글과 전혀 상관없는 댓글에 대해서도 사교적인 차원에서 반응하고 있었다. 댓글을 통한 구성원간의 커뮤니케이션 역시 커뮤니티 게시판에서 보다 활발하게 일어나고 있었다. 반면 글에 대한 이의제기 댓글과 관련하여서는 특정 게시판 간 비교에서는 토론 게시판에서 커뮤니티 게시판보다 직접적인 비판과 반대를 더 많이 하고 있음이 확인되었으나 전체 게시판의 경향성을 살펴보았을 경우 커뮤니티 게시판에서 커뮤니티의 성격을 이유로 관련 논의를 배제시키려는 성향을 보였다.
This study is based on the idea there is the difference of community and open on-line discussion bulletin board which is resulted from the purpose of the users and social anonymity at the each bulletin. To test these ideas, content analysis was conducted on the on-line bulletin boards. This study conducted the comparison of the contents and the tendency of the each bulletin board on the social exchange theory demonstrate the potential benefits effect on the user's attitudes. The recognition of the social anonymity and the needs of the community membership effect on the member's attitude, which leads the difference form of the communication. \r\nTo compare the different on-line bulletin boards, this study focused "the boycott" occurred in May and June in 2008 regarding to the import of American beef by the south Korean government as the same subject and similar opinion atmosphere and analyzed the contents of two types bulletin boards. The analysis was conducted through two steps, the first one is concerned with the general samples from all on-line communities and open discussion bulletin boards in portal Daum and the other is the specific bulletin boards, free-bulletin board in community 10in10 and free discussion bulletin board in Agora. The on-line arguments regarding to the beaf import converged on the advertisement boycott campaign concerned with newspapers in the aspect of target and free discussion bulletin board in Agora and free-bulletin board in each community in the aspect of space. The beginning had been from the each separating communities and then Agora free discussion bulletin board played a pivotal role in invigorating the issues more complicated and organized. Each on-line community was a window doing a role to spread that decisions and issues. The results showed there was a different communication style between on-line communities and open discussion bulletin boards. This study proposed six hypotheses. The first and second hypotheses were related to the form of the writings posted a each bulletin board - the rate of the contents made in person or just posting the other's and how it was expressed. There were more postings of the other's and less forced persuasion expressions in the community bulletin board. The other hypotheses were related to the type of communications - the rate of the writings with self-disclosure, opposite replies to the postings, replies of the writer oneself, interactions among the replies. Excepting of the more disagreement rate to the postings only in the case of the general samples from all on-line communities, there was more intent to be polite, deliberate and keep the relations in the community bulletin board than open on-line discussion bulletin board.
