청소년들은 인터넷을 통해 주요한 정치 사안들에 관하여 자신들의 의견을 개진하고, 오프라인에서도 여러 형태의 정치활동에 참여함으로써 무시하지 못할 여론 집단으로 부상하고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 국내의 청소년과 청소년의 정치행위에 관한 연구는 미진한 실정이다. 이러한 문제의식을 바탕으로 본 논문에서는 청소년의 정치행위를 설명하기 위한 노력으로 정치사회화에 주목하였다. 본 연구는 청소년들의 정치사회화에 미치는 각각의 정치사회화 기구들이 갖는 커뮤니케이션적 측면에 집중하여, 종합적이고 경험적 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구는 청소년의 정치사회화가 어떤 커뮤니케이션 요인으로부터 얼마나 영향을 받는지를 살펴봄으로써 그들의 정치사회화 과정에 대한 설명을 하고, 더 나아가 그들의 정치행위에 관한 설명을 정치사회화를 통해 나름대로 제시하고자 하였다.\r\n\r\n본 연구는 선행연구와 이론적 논의를 바탕으로 정치사회화를 (1) 정치지식, (2) 정치효능감, (3) 정치행동의 차원으로 나누어 종속변인으로 채택하였으며, 종속변인에 영향을 미치는 정치사회화 기구를 (1) 가족, (2) 또래집단, (3) 뉴스미디어를 설정하여 살펴보았다. 각각의 종속변인과 정치사회화 기구의 세부변인들에 대해 연구문제를 설정한 뒤 이를 계층적 회귀분석을 통해 분석하였다. 연구의 분석결과는 다음과 같이 정리된다.\r\n\r\n첫째, 가족 커뮤니케이션 측면의 영향력은 본 연구에서 설정한 정치사회화 세 가지 차원 모두에 전반적인 영향력을 보였다. 하지만 그 영향력은 긍정적인 영향도 있었고, 부정적인 영향도 있었다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 가족 내의 커뮤니케이션 분위기가 청소년의 정치사회화에 매우 중요한 영향을 미치는 사실임을 발견했다. 이것은 가족 내 커뮤니케이션 패턴과 분위기에 따라서 부모와의 대화가 정치사회화에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수도, 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수도 있다는 것을 의미한다.\r\n\r\n둘째, 또래집단 커뮤니케이션의 영향력은 정치효능감과 정치행동에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 또래집단이 청소년의 정치행동에 미치는 영향력은 다른 변인들 중에서 가장 큰 설명력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다.\r\n\r\n마지막으로 고려한 정치사회화 기구인 뉴스미디어는 예상과 달리 정치행동에만 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다.\r\n\r\n이상의 결과를 바탕으로 각각의 정치사회화 차원에 영향을 미치는 정치사회화 기구에 대한 영향력을 확인할 수 있었고, 더 나아가 가족 내 커뮤니케이션 패턴에 따라 부모와의 대화가 청소년의 정치사회화에 긍정적인 영향과 부정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 패턴을 발견할 수 있었다.
Through expressing their opinion about political affairs, adolescents in Korea are emerging new social forces as a powerful opinion group. Nevertheless, surprisingly little study have focused on the adolescents and their political behaviors. This study focused political socialization process and its impact in order to explain political behavior of adolescents in Korea, focusing various political socialization agency such as family, peer groups, and news media. Based on previous studies and theoretical discussion, this study identified three dimensions of political socialization; political knowledge, political efficacy, and political behavior. Through hierarchical regression analysis, each research question was analyzed. about these variables. The results of analysis are summarized as follow. First, the influence of family communication has significant effects on all three dimensions of political socialization, although specific direction of each influence varies. In specific, the communication atmosphere within family significantly effected political socialization of adolescents. It means that talks with parents influence political socialization of adolescence positively or negatively depending on communication atmosphere within family. Second, communication within peer groups also effected political efficacy and political behavior of the adolescents. Futhermore, the effect of the peer groups was the most powerful predictor of adolescents' political behaviors. Finally, contrary to expectations, the effect of the news media was significantly correlated with political behaviors only.\r\nBased on these results, this study identified the influences of the political socialization agencies, uniquely effecting each of three dimensions of political socialization. Furthermore, this study also found that specific patterns of talks with parents can influence political socialization of adolescents both positively or negatively.
