본 연구는 외국인을 대상으로 한 국내 영어뉴스를 보도하고 있는 라디오 채널인 RHK <아리랑 라디오>의 정치뉴스를 분석하여 두 방송사의 보도에서 드러나는 시각차를 확인하고, 이에 대한 원으로 각 방송사의 최고의사결정권자의 정치적, 이념적 성향에 주목한다 진보야권 성향의 현 서울시잔이 서울시의 예산으로 운영하고 있는 와, 정부의 재정적 지원을 받고 보수당 출신의 현 대통령이 실질적 인사권을 갖고 운영하고 있는 <아리랑국제방송>의 구조적 특성이 같은 사안을 보도함에 있어 보도 시각차를 만들어 낼 거으로 보았다.\r\n두 방송사의 뉴스 보도에서 어떤 시각차가 있는지 살펴보기 위해 '박근혜 새정부 조직구성안' 관련 뉴스에 대한 내용분석을 실시하였고, 차후 두 방송사의 뉴스 보도틀에 영향을 미치는 요인에 대해 알아보기 위해 뉴스 편집자들을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시했다.\r\n내용분석 결과 의 보도에서는 진보야권의 입장을 지지하는 경향이 나타나 야당과의 병행관계를 형성하고 있음이 드러났고, <아리랑 라디오>의 뉴스에는 보수정당을 옹하하는 태도가 나타나 여당과 병행관계를 형성하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 인터뷰를 통해 이러한 정파성이 각 방송사의 윤영주체의 보도정책의 차이에서 기인한 것임을 확인했고, 두 방송사의 정치뉴스의 보도에 최고의사결정자의 정치적 성향이 투영되고 있음을 확인했다. 더불어 기존의 뉴스내용에 여향을 주는 다양한 요인들 중 영어방송 제작의 특수성으로 인해 언론인의 개인적 요인, 그리고 광고주의 영향력 등이 영어방송의 보도에 미치는 영향은 미미한 것 또한 확인했다.\r\n본 연구는 국내언론에서 공히 나타나고 있던 정파적 언론보도가 외국인을 대상으로 한 뉴스에도 나타나고 있음을 밝혀내었고, 이러한 보도가 두 매체를 운영하는 운영주체의 영향을 받는다는 사실을 입증하여, 국내 저널리즘 연구의 지형을 한 단계 넓혀나가고자 했다는 데에 그 의의가 있다 할 것이다.
영문초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the difference of two English radio channels, and , by analyzing their political news coverage. As the reason of the difference, we consider the political and ideological background of the chairmen of the broadcasting station. is a station operated with Seoul city government's budget and ran by politically progressive mayor, Park. In comparison, is funded by South Korean government, and the President, who is from a conservative party, has the power to make final decisions regarding news policies. The two chairmen have different political viewpoint, and we supposed this would create the difference in their political news coverage.\r\nContent analysis on 'President's Park's new government reorganization plan,' was conducted to examine the difference on political perspectives of two channels.\r\nInterviews on news editor were also carried out to find out what the major influence on deciding their news coverage is.\r\nFrom content analysis, the result shows that the new on supports and reflects the progressive party's stance, and advocates the new government's conservative stance in South Korea. The interview showed that their news reports were influenced by their news policy makers, who are appointed by major in and by President in . In addition, English news reports in South Korea turned out to be not affected by several conventional individual journalist and outside of media organization, like advertisers.\r\nThis study showed that the paralleslism of Korean newspaper and political party is also revealed in an English news for foreign listeners. Moreover, both stations' news reports were most significance of this paper is the effort to extend the ground of domestic journalism research a step further.
